The Whites of the Ozarks is a series of books seeking to teach basic Scriptural truths to children with fun stories. They are set in the eastern edge of the Ozark Foothills during the middle 1950s. Although this is where the author spent his younger years, the stories are fictional. No actual people or events are presented.

The White family has seven members:

  • John, the father;
  • Virginia, the mother;
  • Sally, John's 18-year-old niece the Whites adopted;
  • Matt, their 9-year-old son;
  • James, their 7-year-old son;
  • Linda, their 5-year-old daughter; and
  • Patricia, their 3-year-old daughter.

They live on a large farm about five miles from the nearest town, Ellsinore, population 350. The Whites have no phone. They do have an indoor bathroom (the author didn't). They also have electricity.

Join the adventures. Check out the Whites of the Ozarks.

Book 1: Ryan — Ryan is a young man who has just gotten out of the Army. He is flying from Little Rock to St. Louis to check out a college he plans to attend. Engine problems force him to land in one of the White’s pastures.

Book 2: Letters & Lists — Ryan's visit leads to an exchange of letters and the idea of making a list of characteristics you believe God wants in your future spouse and in you. Sally goes through those exercises – ones you may want to do as well.

Book 3: Opportunities — The Whites, particularly Mr. White, has to take a stand. As his family watches, will he make the correct choices? You will also have to make similar choices in your walk with God.

Book 4: Twister! — A severe tornado hits Carter County. Ryan returns for a visit over the 4th of July weekend. He sees Eddie again and has some discussions with Mr. White. Ryan has decisions to make and so do you.

Book 5: Happy Birthday, America — Ryan goes with the Whites to an Independence Day celebration at the Ellsinore America Legion park. They discuss the sacrifices made by America’s founders. You should also remember what they did for us.

Book 6: It Figures — Mr. White has a challenge when a new teacher, Joe Hicks, comes to Upper Ten Mile School armed with the latest 'scientific' evidence about Evolution. Joe shares his ideas with men of the community and his plans to teach Evolution. In the end, Joe realizes he has been conned by Evolutionists. Have you?

Book 7: Chain of Rocks — Mr. White takes his young boys to Chicago with him for a conference. He also picks up Ryan in Chicago. They have some discussions about adult responsibilities that you might need to consider.

Book 8: The Strange Secret — Mr. White, his sons and Ryan continue their trip to Chicago. They discuss basic life planning and goal setting. Each of us needs to consider planning and goals.

Book 9: God of Order — Ryan, Lt. Lawson and White boys go through the Chicago Museum of Industry and Science. Every display points out how orderly our world is. Could it be the result of a random "Big Bang" or a God of order? The answer to that question is far more important than you may realize. Coming soon....

Book 10: Just Between Us Girls — While Mr. White is in Chicago at a meeting, Mrs. White and Sally are ministering to a local girl. Will she wake up, continue to sleep or rebel? The challenges she faces are the challenges you are facing. Coming soon....
